Long Buckby - Northants
-
IMPORTANT - There is no cleaner so please leave in a good state before leaving and let Clive know if anything broken/not working. Thanks.
It is OK to use anything in the cottage unless labelled otherwise.
Getting the key
There is a key safe by the stop cock. Ask Clive or Jake for code. Put the key back in the safe immediately after opening door, and then use the key that is hanging up inside.
Parking
May not be easy. Possibly at top of the lane, OK to park with wheels on pavement. If no space then try round the corner somewhere. Co-op car park is restricted to 90 minutes.
Accommodation
1 room downstairs: Lounge/kitchen Bedroom 1: One small double bed. Bedroom 2: Two single/semi-bunk beds.
Bathroom: Walk-in shower.Laundry
Beds should all be made up on arrival. Clean towels in laundry cupboard.
Strip beds when leaving and re-make with fresh in laundry cupboard in small bedroom. Then either put used laundry in the basket above the washing machine for Jake to sort, or use the machine for a quick was/dry, and if not totally dry hang on rails by boiler.
Or: Bring own bedding, strip existing beds on arrival and remake before leaving.
Heating
There is underfloor heating downstairs. The control is by bookshelves. Clive can also control this remotely and will switch on in advance, if necessary.
Radiators: There are individual radiator thermostats but no room thermostat. The main thermostat is on the boiler (cupboard near kitchen sink). In winter, turn up on arrival and turn down to 1 when leaving.
Water stop-cock
This is low down in the boiler cupboard. Can stay permanently on.
Neighbours
Please keep noise down as much as possible. John and Anne live at number 8, next door down. They have a spare key if needed and can help in an emergency.
Provisions in Cottage
There should be wine, tea, coffee, tins of stew, soup, etc. so no problem if you arrive and don’t want to shop straightaway.
WiFi
Router and wifi code by fuse box in cupboard on stairs.
Entertainment
There are lots of retro board games, jigsaws and DVDs. There is a retro music centre with LPs and cassettes. Also a Bluetooth speaker.
When leaving
There is no cleaner - so please clean / dust / hoover.
Replace rubbish bin liner. Take all rubbish back with you. (Small amounts can go in public bin at top of lane, just inside church grounds).
Switch all lights off except the flickering ones.
Put used laundry in basket above washing machine (or wash if time, see above). Re-make beds.
Leave fridge on minimum and remove anything perishable.
Turn boiler radiator thermostat to 1 (or 0 in summer).
If anything is damaged or not working, please fix it or let Clive know.
